A Hidden Treasure
The Names of GOD in the 23rd Psalm

I was listening to a sermon by Dr. Adrian Rogers, Love Worth Finding Ministry, entitled 'The Secret of Satisfaction'. Dr Rogers' sermon text was the 23rd Psalm. Over the next 30 minutes, Dr Rogers blessed me by reading the passage and showing how each line of the psalm referred to one of the Old Testament Names of GOD.

The LORD is my shepherd; (Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd))

I shall not want (Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide))

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. (Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace))

He restoreth my soul: (Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals))

he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. (Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness))

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts))

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: (Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner))

thou anointest my head with oil; (Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You))

my cup runneth over. (Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide))

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There))
