A Study of the commands from our Lord, Jesus the Christ
Week 16, March 14th
"Ask, Seek, and Knock - A Summary
I was ready to publish this page last night.
As I laid down in my bed I 'ASKED' the Father for guidance.
This is what I received:
Asking for "stuff" requires that I first recognize I do not have the "stuff" I am asking to receive.
OR
Does it require that I first recognize I need the "stuff" I am requesting?
OR
Some combination of both?
I can easily pose the same questions above using the commands of seek and knock.
What am I trying to find (seek) that I do not see?
What am I trying to open (knock) that I believe is being blocked?
I told the LORD these are NOT answers these are more questions.
Then the Holy Spirit answered:
- Your Father already knows what you need before you ask (see
Matthew 6:8(NASB)).
- You should ask in faith (see
James 1:6 (NASB)).
- You should be seeking His kingdom (see
Matthew 6:33 (NASB)).
- You were chosen, in Him, before the foundation of the earth was laid (see
Ephesians 1:4 (NASB)).
- All your days are written in your Father’s Book (see
Psalm 139:16 (NASB)).
- Your Father’s Plan is for
your welfare
(see
Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB)).
- Jesus came to give you
abundant
life (see
John 10:10 (NASB)).
Take a moment and ponder each of the verses in the list above; Then reflect: what has the Holy Spirit placed on your heart? Now, return to the commands in Matthew and Luke.
Ask and you will receive
Seek and you will find
Knock and it will be opened
These three commands are NOT about Me getting (asking), finding (seeking) and opening (knocking) something that I desire in this life. These three commands are about me desiring to open, find, and receive the abundant life GOD the Father has already prepared for me.
Always remember
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding."
Do you TRUST the LORD?
When you ask, seek, or knock, have you come before the LORD with these requests trusting
in Him?
Do you "NEED" what you are asking for, seeking to find, or knocking to open?
Have you followed
Matthew 6:6 (NASB))?
Have you PRAYED to your FATHER?
