Week 11: Benefits of Obedience - Continued

A Study of the commands from our Lord, Jesus the Christ

Week 11, February 8th

The Benefits of Obedience Continued.

This week's tour stop The Great Commission:
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV):
"Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Here is the format we have been following:
- List the command
- List the person or persons commanded
- List whether the command was obeyed
- List the benefit promised or realized

The command or commands in this case are "Go and make disciples, baptize those disciples, and teach them to obey".

These commands were given to the 11 disciples (verse 18).
Their response: they obeyed (see the rest of the New Testament).
The benefit: Jesus is with them always (verse 20).

When I started this week's installment, my goal was to focus on the benefit of obeying these commands: To be with Jesus always.

Then I just wanted to Thank GOD that those 11 disciples obeyed Jesus because those disciples went and made disciples, baptized them, and taught them to obey. (see Acts 2:41 (NASB) ) which eventually led to a disciple baptizing me and teaching me to obey. And now I get the benefit of Jesus being with me always.

Jesus, the son of GOD, is preparing a place for me and will come and get me (see John 14:3 (NIV) ).

What more can I say? The Apostle Paul reminds us in
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)
that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived — the things God has prepared for those who love him"

Here are a couple more examples:

With Jesus comes Peace. (see John 16:33 (NASB) and Philippians 4:7 (NASB) ).

With Jesus comes Spiritual blessings. (see Ephesians 1:3 (NASB) ).

With Jesus comes Perfection, not by you but because Jesus will make you complete. (see Philippians 1:6 (NASB) ).

And there are more examples. Start reading Ephesians
- Holy and blameless (verse 4)
- Redemption (verse 7)
- Inheritance (verse 10)

If you have any other questions for me please send me an email.

The tour continues next week with a look at the people that received benefit.
