Why I Believe
My defense to 1 Peter 3:15 (NASB)
When Peter wrote to believers 1 Peter 3:15 (NASB) he knew we would be challenged by those of this world about the hope we have in Jesus.
Here are my reasons for believing Jesus is LORD:
GOD exists and created everything. Genesis 1:1 (NIV)
I am an engineer. I like things that make sense. I found that I have one of two choices to make. Option One: There is a GOD which created everything OR Option Two: There was nothing; it exploded; and this entire universe came into existence.
To believe the second option takes more faith than I have. How can any rational being think that from nothing every thing came into existence? It is foolishness. Just like GOD's word says "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" Psalm 53:1 (NIV)
I am no fool.
GOD offered me THE gift of faith and I accepted GOD's Gift. Ephesians 2:8(KJV)
I am saved by GOD's grace. I always thought that "grace" was the gift. Grace is the power of the almighty GOD to restore fellowship between me, a sinner, and a righteous GOD. THE gift is Faith. Faith that GOD is the "I AM". Faith that Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the grave. And Faith is no good unless you accept it and use it. For it is impossible to please GOD unless you are using the gift of Faith ( see Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)).
GOD loves Me. John 3:16(NIV)
I am loved by the Creator of the Universe. What greater miracle was ever performed? Jesus becoming man? Perhaps? But when I stop to contemplate that there is NOTHING I can say, do, or think that will cause My LORD to love me more than He does right now, I am blown away. This does not make sense.
Neither does this fact: there is NOTHING I can say, do, or think that will cause My Father in Heaven to love me less.
To Be Continued...
I would love to hear your reasons for "Why I Believe".
