A Study of the commands from our Lord, Jesus the Christ

Week 23, May 2nd

This week's Tour Stop is the command: "Preach the Gospel".

The command is found in Mark 16:15 (NASB)

"And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'"

As your tour guide, I have pointed out the "Benefits of Obedience" (see Week 10, Week 11, and Week 12, These tour stops focused on the benefit to the individual who obeys. This week, I realized the benefit gained by others because someone obeyed the command: "preach the gospel".

At 8:18am on April 29, 2016, I received a call from my brother, Neal, that my Mom, Jean Burton, had passed into Glory. I was stunned.

Two weeks, ago when I posted the Tour Stop: Week 21: Something Different I shared that Mom was being brought home because she was dieing in the hospital. I shared that I was waiting to witness the Hand of GOD.

AND WE DID!

Over the next two weeks after I posted that blog. Mom, surrounded and nurtured by her family, rebounded; She was getting stronger. She wanted to go into Nursing Rehab to get even stronger. She moved into the Terraces on Thursday, April 28th.

She was alert; ready for the next challenge. Friday morning around 7am, Mom calls my sister, Cynthia, asking her when she was stopping by that morning. Cynthia was getting ready to leave the house to make the 10 minute drive to Mom, when the nurse called my brother with the news.

Only now, after a whirlwind of activities, can I sit down and reflect on just how important it was that a disciple of Christ obeyed the command: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

The Greek word for gospel is "euaggelion" , "the glad tidings of salvation through Christ"

If no one had preached the gospel, "the glad tidings of salvation through Christ", Mom would not have heard the gospel. If Mom never heard the gospel preached, she would not have responded by accepting "the glad tidings of salvation through Christ".

Paul writes "So faith comes from hearing..." (see Romans 10:17). Mom is in heaven because someone obeyed the command to "preach the gospel".

Here is the take away this week. When you obey the commands of Jesus to "GO" and "preach the gospel", "the glad tidings of salvation through Christ", you WILL be blessed.

AND

As I witnessed this week, you just might see the benefits received by others.

A final thought. During this time, I have received numerous heartfelt messages about my Mom. Many of these messages include the phrase, "your Mom is in a better place" and she is!

My Mom is with Jesus. My Mom is in the "BEST" place.
