A Study of the commands from our Lord, Jesus the Christ
Week 29, June 13th
This week's Tour Stop: "Recap".
It has been over six months since I started this Tour. During our time together, we have covered commands:
- To Love (see Week 1: It Starts with Love ).
- To Repent (see Week 9: Repent ).
- Not to Fear (see Week 6: Do Not Fear ).
- To Abide in Jesus (see Week 7: Abide In Me ).
- To Preach the Gospel (see Week 23: Preach the Gospel ).
- To Watch out (see Week 25: Watch Out ).
All the commands mentioned above were given by the Lord to his disciples during Jesus' earthly ministry. These and the other commands were meant to be obeyed. Remember the words of our Lord during the last supper when Jesus said:
"He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."
(see
John 14:21 (NASB)).
Note, Jesus does not rank the commands. All he says is "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. So obeying the command: Rendering Unto Caesar, Week 20,
is just as important as the command: Do not worry, Week 5.
The LORD God Creator of the Universe does not want lip service, the LORD wants
our obedience. Remember the story Jesus told about the two sons; both were asked to go to the vineyard and work. The first said, "I will not" but later went; the second son said "I will Sir" but did not go. Jesus asked the crowd who did the will of the Father. Note the crowd answered correctly "the first". (see
Matthew 21:28-31 (NASB)).
I said in week one I did not HOW to Love the LORD. After six months of posting this blog, I can say
my obedience to the commands of Jesus demonstrates my Love towards the LORD.
That is the take away for this week. To love the LORD with all your heart, soul and mind
(see
Matthew 22:37 (NIV)), start obeying the commands of Jesus.

The tour will continue next week but I am not at all sure which of the commands of our LORD I will be sharing.
